Message from Loren Bowen, Tax Collector

The Dauphin County Commissioners and the Londonderry Township Supervisors have taken action to extend the “face” period for paying the County/Township Real Estate taxes until December 31st  of this year. The real estate tax bill is comprised of four payment periods: a 2% discount period (February/March), a face period (April/May), a 5% penalty period (June/July) and a 10% penalty period (August-December.) The resolution extends the face period through the end of the year for payments received or postmarked by December 31, 2020 and waives the 5% and 10% penalties. Payments that are postmarked after December 31, 2020, will incur the 10% penalty.

This applies only to the County/Township bill that was issued February 1, 2020, not the school bills that are issued in July. It does not apply to any interim bills either. Take note the 10% penalty will be immediately added back on if payment is not made by December 31st!
