Accessory Structures: Exempt
Under ยง 403.1(b)(3) the Uniform Construction Code does not apply to accessory structures such as carports, detached private garages, greenhouses and sheds if they meet the exemption requirements shown on the Accessory Structure Exemption Worksheet.
If the project meets the 'Accessory Structure Exemption' criteria a 'Certification Statement' signed by the owner / applicant may be substituted for a Building Permit Application provided all other requirements such as zoning and stormwater management are met.
If the project fails to meet the 'Accessory Structure Exemption' criteria a 'Building Permit Application' shall be submitted using the 'Permit Submittal Guide for New Construction'.
